Updates on the Inclusivity Policy Committee -


The Inclusivity Policy Committee met on April 15th.  The charge of the committee is to revise current policy to reflect the changing cultural dynamics of the district.  The group focused on Board Policy AC, Nondiscrimination/Equal Opportunity, which serves as the foundation from which other policies/regulations are built.  The updated policy will be presented to the Board on April 28th.  The next committee meeting date is Wednesday, May 14th.  If you have questions and/or suggestions, please feel free to email lmejia@d49.org.

The Board approved Policy AC, Nondiscrimination/Equal Opportunity, at their April 28th meeting.

The committee is working hard and met on May 14th to review/revise Policy JB, Equal Educational Opportunities for students. It will be presented to the Board on June 12th.

Learning Services, District Leadership and Building Administration will be receiving enhanced training from Dr. La Vonne Neal, Dean of the College of Education at UCCS, on Culturally Responsive Teaching. Teachers will also receive culturally responsive training throughout the year and new teachers will be trained in July at New Teacher Orientation.

During early fall of next year, please watch for information on community forums and meetings to he held at your local school regarding inclusivity.
